Helicoverpa (Heliothis) control
Managing Helicoverpa armigera and Helicoverpa punctigera requires more than simply applying another broad-spectrum insecticide. Growers need effective pest control while protecting beneficial organisms, managing insecticide resistance and meeting increasingly important residue and market-access requirements.
HELICOVEX NPV Bio-Insecticide is a highly selective nucleopolyhedrovirus bio-insecticide developed specifically for the control of H. armigera and H. punctigera. The virus kills very young larvae, from neonates through to L2, within three to five days. Larger L3 to L5 larvae can become infected and help spread the virus through the population, supporting a sustained control effect. Under favourable conditions, the virus may also infect subsequent generations.
Because HELICOVEX NPV Bio-Insecticide targets these specific Helicoverpa species, it does not harm other non-target caterpillars that contribute to biodiversity and ecosystem services. This selectivity makes it particularly valuable in integrated pest management and organic production programmes where preservation of beneficial and non-target organisms is a priority.
